December 2009: Having unwrapped a few book as gifts, pulled a few magazines out of my stocking, and picked up a few books at the library, I am currently co-reading all these things:

I’m currently reading trash so I’m not putting an image of that online. But I just finished these two books set in Germany before, during and after WWII. The history of this place is too much at times, and I’ve found it helpful to let fiction walk me through it. In between, I’m also reading David Harvey‘s draft of his book on cities and the economic crisis for the course that I’m auditing at the Free University, Berlin.

no wonder you write so well! you read many good books! i’m brenda hochachka’s daughter, who lives in dubai. i’m not sure we’ve met as i get you confused with your sister! does one of you live in sri lanka? anyway, i just wanted to say i love your writing. i hope these blogs get published one day. when do you do your writing? i’m inspired by the fact that you have time to write, even if you’re not working… do you have any time management tips!?
Hi Claire!
We live in Toronto but yes, I’m the one who goes to Sri Lanka – my partner’s family is there. Thanks for reading the blog – I’m glad you like it. I usually write after the kids are in bed but only after the idea has floated around in my head for a while so when I sit down to write it doesn’t take long.
No time management tips! I do work on the two days/week my kids are in daycare so I just scramble to get as much done on those days as I can (both paid and unpaid labour)!
